What is a Benzin Hahn?

My neighbor took his 1959 SL190 to an oldtimer shop and the guy told him he needed "Benzin Hahn teile" Also sold him a starter motor. I didn't have a chance to see the car before it was taken to the shop....

My neighbor is a retired orthopedic surgeon and can afford this but.....

Ein Benzinhahn is like a water tab - to shut off fuel supply. In most cases it is for switching between main fuel tank and reserve.

That is exactly what I thought, So when you replace one you replace the whole thing right? The email I saw from the shop said "Benzinhahn teile", can you or would you normally buy parts to repair the benzinhahn?

190 Sl is not my cup of tea...but we're talking about rare and expensive classics! So maybe a fuel switch is hard to get and fixing it the best way?!
Look at the linbk postet above - the auction is starting at 360 €
