Re: The Rustang - Rustauration
Rob,
I have heard from some guys who used the Dynacorn body that all the parts you have to attach will not fit properly. It seems to be a good idea to use a body like this. But if you have a lot of trouble to restore the rest of it; wouldn´t it be better to look for a used and old original body and spare parts from some other cars?
Here in Germany we like to be originally as much as possible.
Cheers
Andreas

Re: The Rustang - Rustauration
I have been involved in 2 69 camero builds using dynacorn bodies things went very well and I have been involved in about 6or7 total body rebuilds and there was just as much fitting of parts if not more than with the dynacorn bodies does not matter which way you do it you will always have to massage body gaps and fitment to me there was a whole lot less work in the dynacorn bodies plus all the metal is new and the shock towers come already reinforced on mustang body and you can order the bodies minitubbed if you want
And if you are not experienced in full body sheet metal restoration you can make some really big mistakes trust me I have seen more than my share of those mistakes and they can be very costly in a hurry
I had to replace 1 fender on my 71 boss accident damage so I bought an original rust free fender from a southern Usa wrecking yard I had so much trouble getting it to fit that I bought an aftermarket reproduction fender which by the way cost almost half of what the used fender cost me and it fit 10 times better than the original fender did
To each his own I guess I can only go by what I have experienced and I have had excellent experience with dynacorn stuff
anyway if you want to get really serious about the handling of your early mustang here is another solution from Schwartz Performance chassis

Re: The Rustang - Rustauration
I drive an old car, because I want to feel it.
No electric assistance, flat springs instead of coil springs, ... so why change the whole car in a 'new' one ?

Re: The Rustang - Rustauration
And that's fine nothing wrong with that I just happen to like to upgrade the performance of my old car because I can nothing wrong with wanting to improve on something
the improvements I have made to my 71 Boss let me enjoy the car more and it is more fun when I take it to the autocross or track day
here is a movement in north America called" pro touring " which means just that taking old cars and improving their handling
My 71 used to take 185 feet to stop from 100 kph now it stops in 126 feet what is wrong with that , makes it safer to drive nothing wrong with that
I have been ford man all my life and a mustang fan forever but honestly the handling of a stock original 1965 mustang is less than desirable for me anyway so when a chance presents itself to improve on that I will always pick that option
